Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Ibrahim Aliyu, has died during a prolonged battle with illness.
The death of Aliyu, who served under former Governor, Saidu Dakingari, between 2007 and 2015 has drawn tributes from political leaders and residents in the state, describing the late statesman as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the development of the state would be remembered.
In a condolence message issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, Idris expressed deep sorrow over the passing, describing it as a monumental loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the nation at large.
The governor said the late Aliyu lived a life defined by piety, humility and patriotism, adding that his distinguished career in both the civil service and public office was characterised by integrity, commitment and selfless service to humanity.
He noted that Aliyu’s years in government reflected his unwavering dedication to the growth and progress of Kebbi State, while his leadership qualities earned him respect across political and traditional institutions.
Idris extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Yauri Emirate Council, friends and associates of the deceased, praying Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Aliyu served as Deputy Governor of Kebbi State from 2007 to 2015 during the administration of former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari. He was widely regarded as one of the state’s respected elder statesmen, having also built a distinguished career in the civil service before venturing into politics.
Further details regarding his burial arrangements are expected in line with Islamic rites.
