Manchester City forward, Phil Foden, has signed a new contract to extend his contract with the club till year 2030 ahead of the 2026/27 season opener.
City announced that Foden signed a new four-year-deal in addition to the one year remaining on his existing contract, committing his future with the club under the stewardship of new manager, Enzo Maresca.
The English international, who made his debut under departed Pep Guardiola at age 17, said that he can’t wait to begin his journey with Maresca, disclosing that playing for the club is an honour which he was keen on continuing with.
”Playing for this club is all I’ve wanted to do and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt,” the player said after completing the extension on Wednesday.
”It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more,” he continued.
”I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season, someone all the players respected and loved working with.”
Director of Football, Hugo Viana, said, ”Everyone at Manchester City is incredibly proud of phil.
”He represents everything good about our Academy. He is a unique talent and his creativity is a joy to watch. At 26, his development is still ongoing and we look forward to seeing the player Phil can become over the coming years.”
Foden, who was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the just concluded FIFA World Cup, registered an incostent 26 appearances for the Mancunians last season, but has 369 in all, scoring 68 goals in the process.
Since his 2017 senior team career with the Sky Blues, has won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups as well as the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup.
