Epstein’s last call was to Karyna Shuliak; now she may inherit up to $100 million of his fortune
Dr Karyna Shuliak, who until recently worked as a dentist in Brooklyn, New York, was reportedly Epstein’s girlfriend and the last person he called before he committed suicide in a New York jail in August 2019. She was reportedly Epstein’s girlfriend for nearly eight years, The NY Times reported.
Shortly before his death, Epstein updated his will to leave Shuliak a massive share of his fortune. He also left her a 33-carat diamond ring. In a handwritten note, he reportedly said the ring was given “in contemplation of marriage.”
At the time of his death, Epstein’s estate was estimated to be worth about $600 million. However, after compensation was paid to victims through settlement funds and other legal expenses, the estate is now estimated to be worth between $120 million and $200 million. Reports say Shuliak could receive up to $100 million.
Shuliak moved from Belarus to New York in 2010 on a student visa. She wanted to become a dentist, and Epstein helped her get into Columbia University’s dental school. He reportedly paid for her education, apartment and other expenses. He also helped her obtain a US green card through a marriage arrangement, and she became a US citizen in 2018.
Epstein reportedly paid for Shuliak’s dental school fees and arranged for her mother to visit from Belarus after she was in Columbia University. According to reports, Shuliak thanked Epstein in a 2012 message, saying he had supported her education, apartment and parents, and called him “the purest man out of all men.”
Shuliak has never described herself as one of Epstein’s victims, and US authorities have never accused her of being involved in his sex trafficking crimes, according to The NY Times.
Epstein committed suicide on August 10, 2019, at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was officially ruled a suicide.
