Enugu Rangers set to unveil new players ahead of new season

THE Rangers International Football club of Enugu says it has begun preparations for the commencement of the 2026/27 football season.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the flying antelopes will feature both in the Confederation of African Football (CAF ) Champions league and the Nigerian Premiere Football League (NPFL).

Speaking to NAN on Tuesday in Enugu, Amobi Ezeaku, Rangers General Manager, said the team had signed a few players to prosecute the CAF champions league and the NPFL.

“We have some new players that have joined us; as usual we have a way of unveiling our new players in line with our rules.

“When the time comes we will announce them and present our new players to the public, ” he said.

Ezeaku disclosed that the team had commenced training ahead of the season schedule.

On where Rangers will be playing due to the ongoing renovation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, he said thay everything was under control.

“We have to assess the level of work done at the stadium before deciding what next to do.

“I know that work is progressing fast but we cannot say for now what will happen until the time comes.

“We will see how it goes; nobody holds the key to the future; we will do our best in any way it comes,” Ezeaku said.

He thanked Gov. Peter Mbah for the ongoing renovation of the stadium to meet international standard, saying “it is a big boost to Rangers quest for more glories”.

The general manager said he was optimistic that the team would do the state proud well in both this year’s CAF champions league and the NPFL in spite of any challenges.

“We know what is at stake; we will always fight to represent the badge of the club, no matter the situation.

“I can assure our fans that there is no cause for alarm,” he said.

NAN recalled that Rangers are currently the defending champion of the NPFL, hence they will represent Nigeria alongside Rivers United in the CAF champions league. (NAN)
