Former Big Brother Naija winner Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has initiated a ₦500 million legal action against content creator Carter Efe over comments he allegedly made about her during a social media exchange.
The dispute escalated after a series of online accusations involving Carter Efe, streamer Davrel and Phyna, eventually leading to the reality TV star seeking legal redress.
According to information available to DailyInsightNG, the controversy began after Davrel alleged that Carter Efe had described Phyna as being “of no benefit.” Phyna responded by accusing Davrel of owing her money, triggering a public exchange between the parties.
The situation intensified when Davrel allegedly made additional claims about Phyna’s personal life.
During a separate confrontation shared on social media, Carter Efe also claimed he had been involved in an intimate relationship with the reality star and said he could provide evidence to support his assertion.
Phyna immediately rejected the claim and warned that both Carter Efe and Davrel would be hearing from her legal representatives.
In an Instagram Live session on Thursday night, the reality TV star announced that legal documents had been served on both individuals.
She also apologised to her supporters, admitting that her previous approach to handling online disputes had often worked against her.
According to Phyna, the latest controversy has changed her perspective, and she intends to rely on legal channels rather than social media confrontations to address future disputes.
She explained that allegations relating to her personal relationships were among the few issues she considered unacceptable and said she was determined to protect her reputation.
The former BBNaija winner further disclosed that Carter Efe and Davrel had been officially served through their email addresses and WhatsApp.
Carter Efe later confirmed in a video that he had received court documents and acknowledged that the lawsuit seeks ₦500 million in damages.
The case marks the latest high-profile dispute involving Nigerian social media personalities and is expected to attract significant public attention as legal proceedings unfold.
