The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has warned Nigerians to disregard a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, describing it as false, misleading and unauthorised.
The Service said the recruitment update did not originate from the NCS and urged members of the public to rely only on information published through its official communication channels for authentic updates on its activities, including recruitment.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NCS noted that fraudsters often exploit public interest in government employment by circulating fake recruitment advertisements to defraud unsuspecting applicants.
“The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to inform the public that the purported recruitment update currently circulating on some social media platforms is fake and did not originate from the Service,” the statement read.
The Service advised Nigerians to verify the authenticity of any recruitment information before acting on or sharing it, stressing that only announcements released through its verified platforms should be regarded as genuine.
It also urged the public to ignore the fake publication and continue to rely exclusively on information disseminated through its official communication channels.
The NCS listed its verified social media platforms as Facebook (Nigeria Customs Service) and its official Instagram, X, Threads and TikTok accounts, all operating under the handle @customsng.
The statement concluded with a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and verify information before sharing it.
