The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Prof. Clement Adebooye, has warned newly admitted students that the institution will strictly enforce its regulations against cultism, cybercrime and other forms of misconduct.
The warning was delivered during the university’s 2026/2027 matriculation ceremony for 493 newly admitted part-time degree students, held at the institution’s main campus in Osogbo.
Addressing the students, Adebooye said admission into the university comes with responsibilities, urging them to uphold integrity, discipline and respect for the institution’s rules throughout their academic journey.
He stressed that UNIOSUN operates a zero-tolerance policy on activities capable of damaging its academic reputation.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, offences such as cultism, examination malpractice, cybercrime, drug abuse, sexual harassment, violence, hooliganism and certificate fraud will attract disciplinary action in line with the university’s regulations.
“Our regulations are clear, and sanctions for violations are strictly enforced,” he told the students while encouraging them to remain law-abiding members of the university community.
Adebooye also urged the fresh students to remain committed to their studies by attending lectures regularly, completing assignments on time and making effective use of the institution’s digital learning resources.
He advised them to cultivate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and continuous learning, noting that the knowledge and values acquired during their studies would shape their future careers and contributions to society.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university has continued to improve the academic experience of students under its Centre for Part-Time and Advanced Studies and pledged that the institution would maintain its high academic standards.
Earlier reports also showed that Adebooye recently encouraged postgraduate students of the university to focus on research capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing social and developmental challenges.
He urged the students to remain focused, resilient and purposeful throughout their academic programmes, expressing confidence that their efforts would yield lasting rewards.
