A Nigerian man has shared an unforgettable experience from his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year, recounting how an investigation into alleged theft at a cocoa store led to an unexpected public confrontation.

In a post shared on social media, the man explained that he worked as an accountant for a cocoa merchant during his service year. Although his employer later offered him a full-time position, he said he declined the offer.

According to him, a few months into the role, his boss raised concerns about persistent theft at the cocoa store and asked him to investigate the missing stock.

Accountant uncovers theft

Recalling the conversation, the man quoted his employer as saying, “Abi no be wetin accountant suppose sabi do?”

He said he reviewed financial records, reconciled store activities and discovered discrepancies that pointed to two storekeepers.

The man explained that he submitted his findings to his employer, expecting the matter to be handled privately.

Boss’s decision leaves corper uncomfortable

However, he said the situation took an unexpected turn the following day when his employer gathered all staff for a meeting.

According to the post, the employer said, “Corper Kunle, oya tell it to their face.”

The man admitted the moment caught him off guard, writing, “That was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my entire NYSC year. I honestly wasn’t prepared for that.”

The story has since attracted reactions online, with many users debating how workplace investigations should be handled and whether junior employees should be placed in such difficult situations without prior notice.
