The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled October 8 to hear Senegal’s appeal challenging the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to award Morocco the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
CAS confirming the development in a statement disclosing that the proceedings involving the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is under its standard arbitration timetable as none of the parties agreed to fast-track the proceedings.
In the circular issued on Friday, CAS held that the hearing will take place at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, after the appeal, by Senegal, which was formally registered on March 25, 2026, asking the tribunal to annul CAF’s decision declaring Senegal to have forfeited the final.
The Senegalese federation is also requesting that the court declare its national team the winners of the 2025 AFCON.
The tribunal also noted that the hearing will be conducted behind closed doors after the parties declined to request a public hearing.
CAS explained that once the hearing concludes, the panel of arbitrators will begin deliberations before issuing a written ruling. However, it stressed that no decision will be delivered on the day of the hearing and that it is unable to indicate when the final award will be released.
The court further warned against misinformation surrounding the dispute, saying inaccurate reports about the proceedings have been circulating online.
It emphasised that only information published through official CAS communication channels should be regarded as authoritative and said any decision or update on the case will be announced on its official website.
