A Canadian woman was arrested after a physical altercation over the Fourth of July weekend.
Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after confronting young Trump supporters at Point Pleasant, New Jersey, according to The New York Post.
Tracey filmed herself confronting two girls wearing patriotic-colored sweatpants and struck one across the face and body.
Tracey was subsequently charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction.
She was also taken to Delaney Hall, a privately operated for-profit immigration detention center in Newark, New Jersey, notorious for substandard conditions.
Her husband, Matthew Geroni, posted a video urgently seeking her release, even if it meant returning to Canada.
The detention facility has been the site of numerous protests over President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. Her case mirrors that of New Jersey Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, arrested last year, who faces charges that could result in 17 years’ imprisonment for allegedly assaulting law enforcement during protests.
