Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has reached another career milestone after becoming the first male artist to top Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart.
The achievement came through ‘Dai Dai,’ his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira, which also became the first song by an African artist to claim the chart’s top position.
The record adds to a remarkable run for the World Cup anthem, which has continued to perform strongly across multiple streaming platforms since its release.
Information available to DailyInsightNG indicates that ‘Dai Dai’ has also climbed to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, with projections suggesting it could break into the top 10 following Burna Boy and Shakira’s performance during the historic FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show.
The song has equally maintained its position as the most-streamed music video of 2026 on YouTube, accumulating close to half a billion views.
It previously reached No. 1 on the Apple Music Global Songs Chart, further highlighting its worldwide popularity.
The success of the single has also boosted Burna Boy’s streaming records.
The Grammy-winning artist has extended his lead as the African musician with the highest number of monthly listeners in Spotify history, surpassing 53 million monthly listeners.
He has also set another milestone on YouTube Music, becoming the African artist with the platform’s highest monthly audience, with more than 600 million monthly listeners.
The latest achievement further strengthens Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports and reflects the growing international influence of Afrobeats on the world’s leading streaming platforms.
