Arsenal are considering a move for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior as uncertainty continues over the Brazilian’s contract situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic,
The Premier League champions are understood to be monitoring the 26-year-old as they look to strengthen their attack, although discussions remain at an early stage and no formal approach has been made.
Contract talks stall at Madrid
Vinicius has entered the final year of his contract with Real Madrid, with negotiations over a new deal yet to produce an agreement.
While Arsenal have not opened club-to-club talks with the Spanish giants, the prospect of signing the Brazil international has received backing within the club.
Real Madrid are unlikely to allow one of their key players to leave for free, particularly as Vinicius would also be entitled to a substantial loyalty bonus if he remains through the final year of his contract.
The winger joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 and has since established himself as one of Europe’s leading attackers, making 375 appearances while contributing 128 goals and 100 assists.
Arsenal seek attacking reinforcement
Vinicius is one of several attacking options being assessed by Arsenal as the club looks to build on its Premier League title success.
The Brazilian enjoyed another productive campaign in 2025-26, scoring 22 goals in all competitions despite Real Madrid finishing without silverware for a second consecutive season.
He also impressed for Brazil at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, scoring four goals in five matches before Carlo Ancelotti’s side was eliminated by Norway in the round of 16.
Although Arsenal’s interest remains exploratory, Vinicius’ unresolved contract has made him one of the standout names on the club’s transfer shortlist ahead of the new season.
