Bauchi trains journalists on digital skills for policy communication  

The office of the special adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor of Bauchi state, Thursday, trained journalists with a focus on developing their digital competence and strengthening ethical standards in policy communication.

Speaking at the retreat held at Flourish Hotel, Gombe, the special adviser, Mukhtar Gidado,  stated the importance of training and retraining in achieving  desired objectives.

He described the retreat, themed: “Empowering the Bauchi State Government House Press Crew with Digital Skills and Ethical Tools for Effective Policy Communication and Public Trust,” as timely, hence the need for the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired for effective service delivery.

Gidado noted that the retreat which is the 4th in the series was organised to among others enhance the skills of the journalists especially members of the Government House Press Crew on effective ways of communicating government’s policies and programmes.

The media adviser expressed profound gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammad for sponsoring the conduct of the retreat and charged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture and redouble their efforts in protecting the image of the administration through proper and efficient reportage of its laudable policies and programmes.

Declaring the retreat open on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammad, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Usman Usman Shehu, appreciated the media adviser for the regular training of journalists and appealed to the participants to always consider themselves as partners in progress for the progress and development of the state.

Shehu assured journalists of the commitment and readiness of the administration of Governor Mohammad towards supporting them to discharge their responsibilities.

The Bauchi state NUJ chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, acknowledged the outstanding performance of journalists in the state, particularly members of the Government House Press Crew in accurate reportage of the state government’s policies and programmes.
