Bauchi police arrests man over community leader’s murder

His remains have since been deposited in the hospital’s morgue pending an autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the killing and assured residents that justice would be served.

Aliyu said that the command will ensure that this case is thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. We remain committed to tackling violent crimes and protecting lives.”

Aliyu further warned against illegal possession of firearms, stressing that such acts endanger communities and undermine peace.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasizing that collective responsibility is key to curbing violence.

The suspect, Clement Anthony, is expected to be charged in court after investigations are concluded, as authorities continue to reassure the public of their determination to uphold law and order in Bauchi State.
