Bandits have abducted a pregnant woman and two other residents after attacking a community and stealing about N4 million from victims in Km Kwara State.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community in a late-night raid, forcing residents into panic as they carried out the operation before fleeing with the three abducted victims.
Sources familiar with the incident said the attackers initially appeared to have targeted the community for robbery.
However, after allegedly making away with about ₦4 million, they kidnapped a pregnant woman and two other residents before escaping to an undisclosed location.
The victims’ whereabouts remain unknown, raising fresh concerns over the growing wave of kidnappings and violent attacks on rural communities.
It was gathered on Thursday that the incident occurred on Tuesday night in Abudu Community, Apado Ward, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Confirming the attack, the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Lukman Olayinka, said security agencies had launched efforts to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We are working closely with security agencies to ensure the abducted residents regain their freedom as quickly as possible,” Olayinka said.
He expressed optimism that the victims would be rescued soon, adding that preliminary intelligence indicated the attackers were primarily motivated by robbery.
“The information available to us suggests the kidnappers came to steal.
“After seeing the amount of money they recovered, they apparently believed there was more and eventually abducted some residents. We are confident they will be apprehended,” he added.
Meanwhile, Security agencies have continued efforts to track the kidnappers, while residents remain anxious over the fate of the pregnant woman and the two other abducted victims.
