Adeoye emerges Lagos APM consensus guber candidate

Real estate entrepreneur Laja Adeoye has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election following his affirmation at the party’s primary election held in Yaba, Lagos.

Adeoye’s emergence by consensus underscores the party’s resolve to present a united front ahead of the 2027 polls, with the APM positioning him as its standard-bearer on a platform of inclusive governance, economic reforms and renewed development for Lagos State.

The Chairman of the APM Governorship Primary Electoral Committee, Godwin Williamson, announced Adeoye’s emergence on Thursday, saying delegates and stakeholders from all 20 local government areas of the state unanimously endorsed his candidacy.

The primary election was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Having fulfilled all constitutional and procedural requirements of the party and the Electoral Act, and following the consensus endorsement by stakeholders and delegates, I hereby officially declare Prince Laja Adeoye as the duly elected and returned governorship candidate of the APM for the 2027 Lagos State Governorship Election,” Williamson said.

In his acceptance speech, Adeoye thanked leaders of the PDP-APM coalition, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, for their support.

He pledged to “reset Lagos” through inclusive governance and far-reaching reforms, describing the APM as a movement committed to transforming the state.

“APM is not just another party; it is a powerful movement forged through hard work, immense sacrifices and an unyielding determination to rescue Lagos from misrule and return the state firmly to its rightful owners, the people of Lagos,” he said.

Adeoye also unveiled his development blueprint, “Àtunto Èkó 1.0: Re-Engineering Lagos for Inclusive Prosperity – RESET LAGOS Agenda 2027,” which focuses on economic revitalisation, housing, healthcare, education, security and job creation.

“Our youths will no longer be idle; they will be empowered, skilled and employed. Lagos will once again become a true engine of prosperity that works for every single Lagos resident,” he said.

He further promised to lead with humility, transparency and accountability.

“I am ready to listen to your voices every single day, ready to work day and night, and ready to deliver tangible results that you can see and feel. APM will deliver renewed action, visible transformation and genuine hope.”

Also speaking, APM State Chairman, Bunmi Adeyemo, described the consensus primary as a reflection of the wishes of the party’s delegates and leadership. He added that candidates for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate also emerged through affirmation.
