The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has held a dialogue with the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, on necessities on security matters to be put in place prior, during and after the gubernatorial election to be held in the state.
Adeleke welcomed Disu at the State House disclosing the importance of creating an enabling environment for the electorates as well as election workers who would be coming out to vote during the polls, emphasizing on the need for a continued effort to sensitize the residents on the need to shun violence at the exercise which is expected to be in tranquility.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for violence, thuggery, and all forms of electoral misconduct during August 15 franchise.
He noted that he was encouraged by the IGP’s assurance that the election would be peaceful, and added,“I am encouraged by the assurance of the Inspector General of Police that the forthcoming election will be peaceful and that the Nigeria Police Force will remain professional, impartial, and apolitical before, during, and after the election.
“I made it clear that anyone found culpable, regardless of status or political affiliation, must be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law,” he stated during the interactive session held yesterday.
“I am equally reaffirmed my administration’s commitment to working with all security agencies to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process in Osun State.
The governorship election in Osun is expected to be closely monitored by security agencies as stakeholders push for a violence-free electoral process.
