The faction gave Atiku a seven-day ultimatum to issue a public apology for what it described as unauthorised statements made in the name of the party, warning that failure to comply would leave it with no option but to seek legal redress.
In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday, the faction, through its National Chairman, Nafiu Gombe, insisted that Atiku was neither the ADC’s presidential candidate nor authorised to speak on behalf of the party.
It urged the former vice president to immediately stop presenting himself as the party’s standard-bearer for the 2027 general election and to refrain from using the ADC’s name, logo and emblem to spread what it described as falsehoods and misinformation about the party.
According to the statement, Atiku has “never been the Presidential Candidate of the ADC for the 2027 General Elections,” adding that the seven-day ultimatum was the party’s “formal and final warning” before initiating legal proceedings if he failed to publicly apologise to members and stakeholders.
The Gombe-led faction also called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate and prosecute the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
It accused him of disseminating false information capable of misleading the public, inciting unrest and threatening public peace.
The statement further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately remove the names of Senator David Mark and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by him from the commission’s portal.
The faction argued that a court judgment had directed INEC to withdraw recognition from the David Mark-led NWC, invalidate all decisions and resolutions taken by the committee, and recognise only what it described as the authentic National Working Committee led by Nafiu Bala Gombe.
It maintained that INEC should comply with the court’s decision by updating its records to reflect the Gombe-led leadership as the legitimate executive of the party.
