The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto state, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has picked a federal lawmaker, representing Gwadabawa Illela federal constituency, Alhaji Bello Isah Ambarura, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election

Speaking on the decision to pick Ambarura, the ADC governorship candidate described the development as a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the elections and expressed confidence that the ADC now presents a formidable, experienced, and people-oriented ticket capable of delivering purposeful leadership to the people of Sokoto State.
He however, commended the leadership of the party, its elders, and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in Hon. Ambarura.
He noted that the consensus reached in adopting the current deputy governorship candidate reflects the maturity, unity, and internal democracy that continue to distinguish the ADC as a party committed to collective decision-making and the advancement of the state’s interests above personal ambitions.
Hon. Dan’iya described Bello Isah Ambarura as a seasoned administrator, accomplished legislator, and respected public servant whose years of experience in both the executive and legislative arms of government would add immense value to the ADC ticket.
He noted that Hon. Ambarura rose through the ranks of the Sokoto state Civil Service to become a permanent secretary before serving as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.
He further highlighted his tenure as Majority Leader of the Sokoto state House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023 and his current representation of the Illela/Gwadabawa federal constituency in the House of Representatives as evidence of his competence, leadership and commitment to public service.
