Troops Raid Bandit Hideout, Arrest Eight, Recover Communication Equipment in Zamfara
Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified offensive operations against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, arresting eight suspected bandits and recovering communication equipment during a raid on a criminal hideout.
The operation formed part of ongoing efforts by troops to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across vulnerable communities in the North West.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 on fighting patrol to Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities in Maru Local Government Area on June 6 apprehended eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada community.
Items recovered from the suspects included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms, and other materials believed to be linked to criminal activities.
Troops also destroyed a structure allegedly being used by the suspects as a hideout during the operation.
In a related development, troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA on fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area made contact with terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village on June 5.
Following an exchange of fire, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered seven motorcycles abandoned at the scene.
Similarly, troops responded to a terrorist attack at Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area on June 6, where terrorists reportedly looted personal belongings from residents before fleeing into nearby bushes following military intervention.
On the same day, troops also responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi
Road after terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area.
Security personnel secured the area and evacuated injured victims for medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to track the fleeing terrorists and rescue any abducted passengers.
The military further disclosed that troops arrested a suspected recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area following intelligence-led operations. The suspect is currently in custody and assisting ongoing investigations.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorists and bandits across the region and urged residents to continue providing credible and timely intelligence to security agencies.
