Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, have completed the signing of Scottish full back, Andy Robertson, ahead of next season.
Spurs disclosed that Robertson joined the club on a free transfer, having departed from Liverpool after the end of his contract this summer, to become the first signing of manager, Robert De Zerbi, who joined the club late last season during their relations survival fight.
“Hi Tottenham fans, it’s me Andy Robertson here, I’m not in Glasgow, I’m in America preparing for the World Cup,” Robertson said in a video clip after the completion of the transfer on Friday.
“But I just wanted to send you a quick message to say I cannot wait to play for you guys, I cannot wait to meet you guys, I can’t wait to play in the stadium for the first time in front of you and I’m already looking forward to next season.”
De Zerbi mentioned that he has been a long time admirer orne 32-year-old, uttering, “Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.
“He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch.
“I can’t wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him.”
Spus Sporting Director, Johan Lange also said, “First and foremost, he is an outstanding left-back, one of the best of all time in the Premier League, and someone who will improve our squad.
“In addition, his quality, character and leadership have been evident throughout a career in which he has regularly competed for and won major honours.
“We are excited for Andy’s new chapter with us and look forward to having him here after the World Cup.”
The defender has played over 445 in club career scoring 19 goals in total, 276 of the appearances for Liverpool where he hit the net 11 times and won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, for English domestic cups, the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Confederations Cup.
He has prior to now made 93 appearances with the Scottish national team, scoring four goals.
