President Bola Tinubu on Monday administered the Oath of Office to eight federal commissioners appointed to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC), ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.
The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chambers before the commencement of the FEC meeting presided over by the President.
The two new RMAFC commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad.
The six commissioners inaugurated for the National Population Commission are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.
Gamawa, from Bauchi State, is a lawyer and journalist who has served at the National Assembly, the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund and the National Youth Service Corps. She also played a key role in establishing Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.
Muhammad, from Kaduna State, is a legal practitioner with extensive experience in public administration. He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and later as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Among the newly inaugurated NPC commissioners, Magarya is a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, while Alabi is an information systems and supply chain management professional who most recently served as Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
Radda is a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Bayero University, Kano, and a former member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.
Umar retired from the Nigeria Immigration Service as Deputy Comptroller General after overseeing intelligence, investigation and enforcement operations, while Yahaya is a career officer of the National Population Commission who rose to become Director of Public Affairs.
Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, was reappointed for a second term as Federal Commissioner after previously serving in several ministerial portfolios in the state government.
The appointments further strengthen the membership of the RMAFC and NPC, two key federal institutions responsible for fiscal allocation and population management in Nigeria.
