President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and 18 state governors have appealed to Ekiti residents to cast their votes the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, during the June 20 governorship election in the state.
Tinubu, who represented the Vice President Kashim Shettima, described Oyebanji as a humble, people-oriented and visionary leader who has demonstrated an uncommon commitment to the welfare and development of the state.
They made the appeal yesterday during a mega campaign rally in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, with the President stating that the governor had justified the confidence reposed in him by the people through impactful governance and inclusive leadership.
He added that the APC was proud to present Oyebanji and his deputy as leaders who have remained faithful to the ideals of service, accountability and development.
Tinubu assured residents that the state remains dear to the heart of the Federal Government. He expressed gratitude to the people for their unwavering support for the APC over the years, noting that their loyalty had contributed significantly to the party’s strength and continued success.
“I have come here to thank you for all the years you have stood with our party, stood with our cause, and stood with the promise of a stronger and better Nigeria,” he stated.
According to him, the governor understands that leadership is fundamentally about serving the people and responding to their everyday needs and aspirations.
The Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, led no fewer than 18 governors from across the country to the rally.
The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, led the entire National Working Committee, while Akpabio and his deputy, Senator Jibrin Barau, led over 50 National Assembly members to the rally.
Also, former governors of Ekiti State, Adeniyi Adebayo, Ayodele Fayose, Dr Kayode Fayemi and Chief Segun Oni, were all in attendance urging the electorates to vote Oyebanji.
