A man has narrated how his planned bride price ceremony was unexpectedly postponed after money he had withdrawn for the occasion disappeared from his home.
According to the man, both families had concluded arrangements for the traditional marriage, and he had withdrawn the required cash on Thursday, two days before the ceremony.
He said he kept the money safely at home while waiting for his uncles to collect it on Saturday morning.
The man explained that on Thursday night, a woman he had been seeing casually visited him, saying she wanted to spend one last night with him before his marriage.
He admitted that he allowed her to stay despite having reservations about the decision.
Bride price ceremony postponed
Recounting the incident, the man said, “I was supposed to pay bride price last Saturday for my fiancée. Everything had already been arranged between both families. I withdrew the money on Thursday and kept it safely at home, waiting for Saturday morning when my uncles would come and take it. That same Thursday night, a girl I had been seeing casually came over. She said she just wanted to spend one last night with me because I was now becoming a married man. I allowed her to stay, even though something inside me felt I should have said no.”

Continuing his account, the man said, “On Saturday morning, when my uncles came, I went to get the money and it was not there. I searched everywhere but I couldn’t find it. I had to tell them there was a delay, and the whole bride price process had to be postponed. My fiancée is now under pressure from her family, and she feels embarrasssed because everything was stopped at the last minute. Since that day, the girl who spent that night with me has not been picking my calls. I strongly feel she took the money. The day I set my eyes on her, she will vomit the money back with interest. My fiancée is disappointed in me.”
