Following a viral video showing two masked individuals coming out of a forest near Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki, the Lagos State Government has deployed surveillance drones to secure the university and its surrounding communities.
The drones, provided by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in swift response to the alleged terror threat, are expected to enhance aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and crime-prevention efforts across the axis.
Persecondnews gathered that the university management had alerted the authorities about the threat, calling for urgent help.
PAU had on Tuesday night, directed students to remain indoors after some bandit-like men were spotted within the institution’s premises, prompting a large-scale security operation involving multiple security agencies.
In an emergency advisory issued late Tuesday obtained by Persecondnews on Thursday by the university’s Student Council, the institution said it was working closely with the university administration and security authorities to ensure the safety of students while security operatives conducted a comprehensive sweep of the campus.
The advisory, addressed to all undergraduate students, acknowledged growing concerns over the presence of “unauthorized individuals” within the university.
“We are aware of the circulating concerns regarding reports of unauthorized individuals within the school premises,” the Student Council stated.
According to the council, the university had activated an extensive security response involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigerian Navy.African economic insights

The visit, carried out alongside operational personnel of the command, was part of efforts to evaluate the security situation around the university and reassure students, staff and parents of measures being taken to ensure their safety.
During the assessment, CP Jimoh met with the university’s management and stressed the need to continually strengthen the institution’s security architecture to forestall potential threats.
He advised the management on practical steps to enhance security within and around the campus, while cautioning against actions that could inadvertently weaken existing security structures.
Jimoh emphasised the importance of adopting proactive security measures, particularly in the areas of perimeter protection, access control and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
Speaking during the visit, the Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He assured the management, staff, students and parents of Pan-Atlantic University of the police’s readiness to respond swiftly to security concerns and maintain a safe environment conducive to learning and other lawful activities.
The Commissioner also urged the institution to sustain close collaboration with security agencies and remain vigilant in addressing emerging security challenges.
“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” he said, while encouraging members of the university community to support security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
The Command also reiterated its resolve to maintain peace, public safety and security across the state, urging residents to remain security-conscious and provide credible, timely information to law enforcement agencies.
Residents were also urged to make use of the Command’s emergency lines to report security-related incidents and suspicious movements.
