Senegal winger Ismaila Sarr has expressed disappointment after the Teranga Lions suffered a defeat against Norway at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Senegal lost 3-2 to Norway at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, leaving their hopes of reaching the knockout stage under pressure.
Despite the setback, Sarr believes the team still has an opportunity to continue their tournament journey.
Senegal fight for knockout place
The defeat marked Senegal’s second loss in the competition, while Norway secured qualification for the Round of 32 alongside France.
Senegal must now defeat Iraq in their final group-stage match to keep their chances of progressing alive.
Sarr played a key role in the match against Norway, scoring twice for his country, but his goals were not enough to prevent defeat.
‘It is not over yet’ – Sarr
The forward admitted the result was difficult to accept but insisted Senegal will remain focused.
“We are a little disappointed, but it’s not over yet. There is still a third game to play,” Sarr said.
He added that the team will work hard and approach the final group match with the aim of securing a win.
Senegal will now look to respond strongly as they battle to stay alive in the World Cup.
