The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects linked to separate murder and armed robbery cases across Bauchi state.
Three of the suspects were apprehended over the killing of a resident, while two others were arrested in connection with a violent robbery attack on a commercial motorcyclist.
The three murder suspects, Rabiyu Sanda, 16, Muhammad Abubakar, 21, and Suleiman Nura, 21, were arrested following investigations into the death of a man after a disagreement escalated into violence, while in a separate operation, detectives arrested two suspects, Adamsu Shuaibu were nabbed and over the robbery of a 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist, leaving him with injuries after hitting him with a hammer.
The security agency held that its swift action by operatives led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of the suspects shortly after the incident in Ningi Local Government Areas, according to a statement issued last night by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib.
Habib said that the operations followed investigations conducted between June 11 and June 14, 2026 which uncovered evidence linking the suspects to the crime, and useful information obtained during interrogation has further strengthened the case
The command added that the suspects allegedly admitted their involvement during questioning, providing details that assisted detectives in advancing the investigation.
Upon their admittance, the matter has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiries and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, reacting to the developments, Commissioner of Police, Sani Aliyu, directed investigators to handle the cases diligently and ensure that all legal procedures are followed.
Aliyu stated that the command remain committed to safeguarding lives and property. Anyone found involved in criminal activities will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
He also urged residents to shun violence, remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
