The Oyo State Government on Monday demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road axis of Ibadan, alleging that the property served as a hideout for kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her children.
The demolition exercise was carried out by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, supported by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, as part of the state’s intensified campaign against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
According to the government, the action followed investigations linking the building to the criminal gang responsible for the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The victims were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan, an incident that sparked widespread concern among residents and heightened calls for stronger security measures across the state.
Government officials said the demolition sends a strong message to criminal elements that Oyo State will not tolerate the use of residential properties or any other facilities as operational bases for illegal activities.
The state maintained that the move forms part of broader efforts to dismantle criminal networks, deny offenders safe havens, and strengthen public safety. Authorities stressed that properties found to be aiding or facilitating criminal activities could face similar sanctions in accordance with applicable laws.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating insecurity, the government pledged to continue collaborating with security agencies to track down criminal syndicates and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
The administration further assured residents that it would sustain ongoing security operations aimed at preventing kidnapping, armed robbery, and other threats to public peace, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to law enforcement authorities.
