Over 1,500 Gombe Indigenes at KEDCO Endorse APC Governorship Candidate Gwamna for 2027
In a significant display of grassroots support ahead of the 2027 governorship election, more than 1,500 Gombe State indigenes employed by the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) have unanimously endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna.
The endorsement was announced during a solidarity gathering organised by the KEDCO employees, who said the event was aimed at appreciating Dr. Gwamna for his contributions to their professional growth and reaffirming their support for his governorship ambition.
The workers, drawn from various departments and cadres within the company, credited Dr. Gwamna with facilitating employment opportunities for over 1,500 indigenes of Gombe State during his tenure at KEDCO, a development they described as transformative for many families across the state.
The event was attended virtually by the Managing Director of KEDCO, Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, who joined from Saudi Arabia, where he is currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage. Dr. Jimeta was also identified as one of the beneficiaries of opportunities created under Dr. Gwamna’s leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the workers, representatives of the group expressed gratitude to the APC candidate for what they described as his visionary leadership and commitment to human capital development.
According to them, the employment opportunities provided under his leadership had positively impacted thousands of lives and strengthened the socio-economic well-being of families across Gombe State.
“We are here to stand firmly behind a leader who invested in our future. Dr. Gwamna is a man of vision, compassion and proven capacity. We are fully committed to supporting him until he emerges victorious in 2027. Not only us, but our families, relatives and well-wishers are also solidly behind him,” the group said.
The employees maintained that Dr. Gwamna possesses the experience and capacity to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic growth and human capital advancement.
Responding to the endorsement, an emotional Dr. Gwamna expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the workers, describing the gathering as one of the most touching moments of his political journey.
He said he was particularly proud that many beneficiaries of the employment opportunities had advanced in their careers and now occupy strategic managerial and administrative positions within the organisation.
“Seeing you all today fills my heart with joy. This is a testament to the power of opportunity and the importance of investing in people. I am proud of what you have all become,” he said.
Dr. Gwamna commended the workers for their dedication and professionalism and urged them to continue contributing to the growth and stability of KEDCO while serving as worthy ambassadors of Gombe State.
The APC governorship candidate also reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, promising that job creation, youth empowerment and sustainable development would remain central priorities of his administration if elected.
“My doors remain open to all individuals and groups willing to partner for the progress and prosperity of our dear state. Together, we will build a future of opportunity, unity and shared success,” he added.
The event attracted clerics, business leaders, politicians, APC officials and other stakeholders, underscoring what supporters described as the growing momentum behind Dr. Gwamna’s governorship bid ahead of the 2027 election.
