THE OK-A New Nigeria movement has alleged a coordinated campaign against former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, by politicians across party lines.
The group said recent criticisms of Obi by political figures from the APC, ADC, PRP and Labour Party suggested growing concern over his political influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Chibuisi Mba, described the attacks as evidence that Obi posed a challenge to Nigeria’s political establishment.
According to Mba, political actors from different parties have increasingly focused their criticisms on Obi despite their ideological differences.
He argued that Obi’s message of accountability and prudent management of public resources had resonated with many Nigerians.
The group also praised former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his contributions to education and public service.
Mba said both Obi and Kwankwaso represented alternatives to what he described as the country’s entrenched political system.
He urged Nigerians to support credible candidates at all levels during the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the election should focus on addressing governance challenges, unemployment, poor infrastructure and economic hardship.
The movement called on voters to make informed choices and support leaders committed to transparency, accountability and national development.

Supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have in recent weeks alleged a pattern of sustained criticism against him by political figures across different parties.
The allegations followed public comments by former vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, former Labour Party spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo, media entrepreneur Dele Momodu, Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure, and presidential aide Daniel Bwala.
Obi’s supporters argue that the criticisms, coming from politicians with different affiliations and interests, suggest an attempt to diminish his influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They contend that Obi’s continued advocacy for fiscal discipline, accountability and governance reforms has unsettled sections of the political establishment.
Critics, however, maintain that their comments reflect legitimate political disagreements and scrutiny of Obi’s positions, rather than any coordinated effort against him.
Political observers note that as discussions on possible opposition coalitions and electoral alignments intensify ahead of 2027, public disagreements among leading political figures are expected to become more frequent.
The debate has further highlighted Obi’s continued relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape, more than three years after the 2023 presidential election, in which he finished third but built a significant nationwide support base.
