Ondo man beats father to death

A 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged killing of his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, following a domestic dispute in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

As gathered, the incident occurred on May 28 after a disagreement between father and son reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving the elderly man with severe injuries that required urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Ondo Command Spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the victim was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at the hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

He added that the suspect was arrested after a relative of the deceased reported the incident to the police, prompting an immediate investigation.

Jimoh further stated that Kingsley is currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.

Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu described the alleged act as disturbing and unacceptable, stressing that no disagreement should ever degenerate into violence and warning that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
