Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have foiled a bandits’ attack, preventing the abduction of residents and the rustling of livestock at Bakin Komau in the Dangora area of Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.
NSCDC personnel reportedly responded swiftly after receiving a distress alert that bandits had attacked a herder, leaving him seriously injured while attempting to steal livestock and abduct members of his family.
Following the alert, operatives immediately mobilised to the scene, leading to a gun duel that disrupted the operation.
Faced with resistance from the NSCDC team, the attackers reportedly abandoned the victims and fled with suspected gunshot injuries.
In a statement issued on Friday, the command said: “Upon receiving credible information, our personnel moved swiftly to the scene and engaged the criminals. The suspects were forced to flee after encountering superior firepower from our operatives.”
As a result of the intervention, two abducted victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families, while the injured herder received medical attention.
The NSCDC described the operation as another demonstration of its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities from criminal elements.
The spokesperson of the agency, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the operatives involved were part of a deployment tasked with securing critical infrastructure, grazing reserves, and farming settlements in the area.
He said the successful operation underscored the corps’ determination to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets across the state.
Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, assured residents that the command would continue strengthening security measures to deter criminal activities.
He also urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence, noting that community cooperation remains vital for rapid response to emerging threats.
