The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado.
The actor, who was also a pastor, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Death confirmed by Nollywood Awards founder
The news of his death was confirmed by the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, through a post shared on Instagram.
Oloketuyi described the late actor as a respected figure in the Yoruba movie industry whose work and influence touched many lives.
He wrote that Elegbeje Ado’s contributions to Nollywood would remain remembered while offering prayers for his family, friends and fans.
