NIGERIA’s Consul General in New York, Ambassador Abubakar Jidda, will attend the North American special screening of the Nollywood film, “KALAKIRI”, on June 28 in New York.
The Executive Producer, Mr. Obi Emekekwue, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
Emekekwue said Jidda confirmed his attendance during a meeting at the Nigerian Consulate in New York.
He said the screening would hold at the Marillac Auditorium of St. John’s University, Jamaica, New York.
According to him, members of the Nigerian and African diaspora, as well as other residents of the New York region, are expected at the event.
He described “KALAKIRI” as a sociopolitical film produced by Triatlantic Films International.
The film is directed by Chika Onu and adapted from “Prisoner of the KALAKIRI”, a novel written by Chudi Uwazurike.
Emekekwue said the movie features Segun Arinze, Nancy Isime, Charles Okocha, Caleb Richards, Aisha Mohammed and Akume Akume.
He added that the film would open in 35 cinemas across Nigeria from June 12.
According to him, cinema-goers will have the opportunity to win domestic flight tickets through a promotional draw sponsored by United Nigeria Airlines.
He said viewers presenting their cinema tickets would also enjoy a 10 per cent discount on airline ticket purchases.
