Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni has reacted to the legal challenge against the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, alleging that the timing of the case has raised concerns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show, Oseni said the lawsuit challenging the party’s registration was filed shortly after Peter Obi joined the NDC.
Broadcaster highlights sequence of events
According to Oseni, Obi became a member of the party on May 3, while the legal action seeking to challenge the NDC’s registration was filed on May 5.
He described the timing as suspicious and argued that similar legal disputes involving opposition parties had followed a pattern.
However, Oseni did not provide evidence to support his claim that the case was coordinated.
Call for INEC action
The broadcaster urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to provide the necessary code that would allow political parties to upload required documents.
He warned that actions perceived as restricting political participation could affect public confidence in the electoral process.
Oseni also advised political actors to allow open competition, arguing that elections should be determined by voters.
