Residents of Moroa River community in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have called for justice following the killing of a farmer, Bala Dauda, amid rising concerns over insecurity in the area.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Dauda was allegedly attacked and killed on his farmland shortly after returning from church.
Community members alleged that suspected herders, who had reportedly entered the farmland with cattle, were responsible for the attack.
The Moroa River Youth Progressive Forum condemned the killing and urged security agencies to launch a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.
Residents also expressed concern over what they described as worsening insecurity in the area, citing recurring cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and destruction of farmlands.
They said the situation was already affecting farming activities and threatening food production, which remains the main source of livelihood for many families in the community.
The community appealed to the Nasarawa State Government and security agencies to strengthen security presence and take urgent steps to prevent further attacks.
They stressed that restoring peace was necessary to safeguard lives, property, and economic activities in the area.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
