The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone E, has announced plans to stage a peaceful solidarity protest over the abduction of 42 students of Government Day Secondary School, Mussa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The demonstration, scheduled for June 5 to June 7, will take place simultaneously across North-East states including Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba.
According to the association, the protest is aimed at drawing national attention to the plight of the abducted students, expressing solidarity with their families, and demanding intensified efforts for their immediate rescue.
In a statement issued by Lukman Yusuf, Chief of Staff to the NANS Zone E Coordinator, the association directed its structures across the North-East, including Joint Campus Committee leaders, Students’ Union executives, and other stakeholders, to mobilise members for the exercise while ensuring that the protests remain peaceful.
Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Muazu Hina, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advocating the safe return of the abducted students and improving security in schools nationwide.
NANS said the demonstration is also intended to sustain public attention on the incident and pressure relevant authorities to strengthen school security and prevent future attacks.
