An unidentified body was found floating in a pond at a Phoenix golf course on Thursday morning, drawing fresh attention to the unsolved disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from nearby Tucson since February.
According to ABC15, the Phoenix Fire Department said first responders were called to the area of 32nd Street and Camelback Road around 9am local time after reports of a person found in the water.
When crews arrived, they found an unresponsive adult floating face down in one of the water features at the Arizona Biltmore Estates golf course. The person has not yet been identified. Police told ABC15 that based on initial information, there are no obvious signs of foul play.
“On arrival crews had an adult floating face down in a pond unresponsive,” Phoenix Fire said in a statement.
According to a X post by the Citizen App, a police helicopter was also seen assisting overhead while investigators processed and secured the scene.
The victim has not been identified yet.

What we know about Nancy’s disappearance
Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, 2026. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona in the early morning hours of that day or the night before.
Investigators have released doorbell camera footage showing a masked suspect, and DNA evidence has been sent to the FBI lab in Quantico for testing. However, five months into the investigation, no suspects have been publicly named.

A retired detective working the case theorized that the perpetrator may have been a local tradesperson or service worker, someone who had previously visited Nancy’s home and realized her connection to a wealthy television personality through her daughter Savannah.
The Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward for information, and the FBI is separately advertising a $100,000 reward. Savannah Guthrie has also spent $500,000 of her own money on private investigators to aid the search, with a source telling the US Sun that she “is not prepared to stop looking for her mother.”
An active investigation into the Phoenix incident is now underway.
