The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has expelled 365 students for allegedly submitting fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts from various institutions in order to gain admission into its Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
The institution disclosed the decision in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr Yemi Ajibola, who said the affected students were enrolled across different HND programmes in several schools within the polytechnic.
According to the statement, a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on admission and registration documents uncovered widespread cases of falsified academic credentials used to secure placement in the institution.
Ajibola explained that the expulsion was part of ongoing efforts by the polytechnic to sanitise its academic system and enforce strict compliance with admission requirements.
He added that MAPOLY maintains a zero-tolerance policy on fraud, forgery, and all forms of academic misconduct.
The statement revealed that 156 students were expelled from the School of Communication and Information Technology, while the School of Business and Management Studies recorded 117 cases.

In addition, 54 students were affected in the School of Science and Technology, 36 in the School of Engineering, and two in the School of Environmental Studies.
The Rector of the institution, Dr Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against attempting to gain admission through falsified documents, stressing that the school would continue to uphold academic integrity and discipline.
He said the decision reflects MAPOLY’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and professionalism in tertiary education, adding that the institution will not compromise its standards under any circumstances.
Dr Jolaoso reiterated that strict verification processes will remain in place to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into its academic programmes.
The development underscores the growing efforts by Nigerian tertiary institutions to curb admission fraud and protect the credibility of academic qualifications in the country.
