COUNCILLORS representing various wards across Lagos Island have lauded the Managing Director of Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani (MTT), for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and proactive efforts in addressing water supply challenges within the Lagos Island axis.
The commendation came during a courtesy and appreciation visit by over twenty councillors from the Lagos Island Local Government Area to the Water House, today, Thursday, June 11, 2026. The delegation was led by prominent council leaders, Hon. Olakunle Williams and Hon. Badru Ajibola.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hon. Williams praised Engr. Tijani for fulfilling his promise to restore and sustain regular water supply to Lagos Island, particularly the consistent Sunday water distribution initiative, which has significantly alleviated the hardship previously experienced by residents.
According to him, the intervention has brought considerable relief to households and businesses across the area, demonstrating the Managing Director’s dedication to improving the welfare of Lagosians through enhanced water service delivery.
The councillors described Engr. Tijani as a result-oriented administrator whose leadership has continued to inspire confidence among stakeholders. They further commended the Lagos Water Corporation management for its responsiveness, professionalism, and commitment to providing sustainable water solutions despite operational challenges.
While expressing appreciation for the progress made, Hon. Williams noted that residents are eagerly anticipating the commencement of the proposed Thursday water supply schedule. He also appealed to the corporation to consider involving community representatives during future recruitment exercises to create opportunities for qualified youths within their respective wards.
In his response, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani expressed gratitude to the councillors for the visit and their words of encouragement. He emphasized that the achievements recorded thus far were the result of collective efforts and the unwavering support of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
The Managing Director introduced members of his management team, including the Executive Director, Operations, Engr. Helen Taiwo, and other key officials who have played critical roles in ensuring the success of the Sunday water supply initiative.
Engr. Tijani explained that logistical and operational constraints had temporarily affected the implementation of the Thursday water supply schedule but assured the delegation that the corporation was actively working on sustainable and long-term solutions to improve water distribution across Lagos Island and other parts of the state.
He further urged the councillors and residents to continue supporting the corporation’s efforts and to formally convey their appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his steadfast support and investments in the water sector, which have contributed immensely to ongoing reforms and service improvements.
The visit concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration between the Lagos Water Corporation and community stakeholders towards achieving reliable, efficient, and sustainable water supply for all Lagosians.
