The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has confirmed the arrest of 69 offenders of the stipulated environmental laws in the area.
At least 63 adults and 6 children were apprehended during the coordinated early morning operation in the exercise aimed at enforcing environmental laws and restoring order in public spaces.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said that the arrests held on Tuesday at Oshodi, Alimosho, Ikeja, and other parts of the city took place on Tuesday, happened simultaneously as enforement officers moved in by various areas to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations and discourage activities that compromise public health and safety.
Wahab held that the raiding carried in the by officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps emphasizes that the enforcement drive reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner, safer environment for residents.
The Corps reiterated that similar operations will continue across the state to strengthen compliance and safeguard public health.
