The police have apprehended three suspects over allegations of armed robbery and illegal drug deals in Katsina State.
Operatives of the state’s Command, during separate intelligence-led raids across different areas in the state arrested the alleged offenders, Salim Umar, 24, Yusuf Mustapha, 23, and 27-year-old Gaddafi Idris, for armed robbery alongside the Illicit drug dealing accused, Aliyu Umar, popularly known as Makami.
The enforcement carried in Funtua and the Makera Division area of Katsina State also led to the recovery of weapons, illicit substances, stolen property and cash from the alleged persons as stated in a press statement released last night by the police command spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu.
It discloses that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network and bring them to justice, adding that 38 Exol tablets, 28 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and a knife were recovered from Makami.
Meanwhile, in the case of the armed robbers, they engaged in phone snatching, motorcycle theft, shop burglary and related crimes.
A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of several weapons and other exhibits believed to have been used in criminal operations.
Recovered items included knives, machetes, scissors, an iron pinch bar, mobile phones, SIM cards, charms and cash.
The police said intelligence reports helped investigators track down the suspects before they were taken into custody for further questioning.
Concluding the press release, Aliyu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state, noting that efforts were ongoing to dismantle criminal networks and ensure public safety.
“We remain determined to sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at protecting residents and denying criminals the freedom to operate within the state,” the police spokesman said.
