“The Israeli Air Force struck military targets belonging to the Iranian terror regime in western and central Iran a short while ago,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that came soon after Trump told Financial Times that Israel has to accept the deal the US agrees with Iran.
“I call the shots. I call all the shots. He doesn’t call the shots,” Trump said, adding that Netanyahu “won’t have any choice”.
Trump said he would personally intervene to prevent further retaliation. “I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate,” Trump said. “Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike and Iran had its strike. We don’t need another one.”

Trump also sought to downplay the impact of Iran’s latest attack, saying: “The Iranian strikes didn’t hurt anybody. Hopefully Israel is not going to retaliate.”
The US president further said negotiations with Tehran were nearing a breakthrough. “We are very close to a final deal with Iran. It is going to be a good deal. I don’t want it to blow up because of what is happening now,” Trump said.
Trump had previously lambasted Netanyahu over Israeli attacks in Lebanon. He acknowledged being “a little perturbed” and calling the Israeli Prime Minister “crazy” for intensifying attacks in southern Lebanon.
