Idris Yanako emerges Kano ADC governorship candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by Nafi’u Bala Gombe has presented Idris Yanoko as its governorship candidate for Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The unveiling was conducted by the party’s acting chairman in Kano, Musa Yankaba, during a ceremony held in the state capital on Tuesday.

Yankaba said the decision followed wide consultations among party leaders and key stakeholders, adding that the process reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and consensus-building as it prepares for the 2027 elections.

He noted that the ADC was intensifying efforts to strengthen its structures across Kano and reposition itself as a competitive force in the state’s political landscape.

He stressed that the unveiling was part of preparations for the 2027 polls and the party’s broader strategy to deepen its presence ahead of the elections.

Yankaba expressed confidence in Yanoko’s ability to provide effective leadership if elected.

“We believe he has the capacity to lead Kano State, and we are committed to supporting him as our candidate,” he said, adding that the party was working to expand its influence across Nigeria.

Speaking after his unveiling, Yanoko thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to work with stakeholders to advance the ADC’s fortunes and seek the support of Kano residents.

“I will collaborate with our people to ensure progress and development,” he noted.

In his remarks, Nafi’u Bala Gombe said the ADC was fully prepared to compete in the 2027 elections.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to providing credible leadership for the people, stressing that the unveiling marked a new chapter in the party’s political journey.
