“I sold the ring…” — Lady recounts how fiancé posted pre-wedding photos with another woman

A woman has sparked widespread reactions online after recounting how a man who had proposed to her unexpectedly shared pre-wedding photographs with another woman just three months after she accepted his marriage proposal.

The account, shared recently on social media, detailed how the relationship ended without confrontation after months of uncertainty over plans for a formal family introduction.

According to the woman, she initially accepted the proposal but remained unsure about proceeding with marriage.

She explained that while the engagement was accompanied by a ring and a commitment from her suitor, she repeatedly delayed discussions about involving her family because she was not fully convinced about the relationship.

Proposal accepted, but doubts remained

The woman described a period of hesitation that followed the proposal, noting that the man frequently asked when formal introductions would take place.

Someone proposed to me, ring and all. I said yes but I wasn’t really sure and didn’t know how to say no, so I stalled telling my family for a formal introduction to be made,” she said.

She added that the repeated postponements continued for months as she struggled to make a final decision about the future of the relationship.

“He kept asking and I kept stalling,” she stated.

Unexpected wedding announcement

The situation took an unexpected turn when she noticed pre-wedding photographs on the man’s WhatsApp status, suggesting he was preparing to marry someone else.

Three months later, he uploaded pre-wedding photos on his WhatsApp status. I didn’t argue or anything, just sent him a congratulatory message and he replied with a ‘thank you’,” she recalled.

The woman further disclosed that she later sold the engagement ring and used the proceeds to fund a holiday with friends before moving on with her life.

The story has drawn comparisons with previous public debates about engagement expectations, commitment timelines and communication in relationships.

Similar discussions gained attention online in recent years as more Nigerians shared experiences of broken engagements and delayed marriage plans.

Since the account surfaced, social media users have remained divided, with some arguing that both parties simply moved on after prolonged uncertainty, while others highlighted the importance of clear communication when making long-term relationship commitments.
