“I had already liked him…” – Lady recounts how a man she met at restaurant scammed her of ₦500k

A Nigerian lady has shared how a man she met during a solo date at a restaurant allegedly gained her trust before disappearing with ₦500,000 she lent him.

According to a video shared on TikTok, the encounter began when a waiter brought a bottle of wine to her table, explaining that it had been sent by a man seated across from her.

Narrating the ordeal, she said:

“I went to a restaurant on a solo date. Minutes later, the waiter brought a wine to my table. I told him I didn’t order any, then he pointed at a man sitting opposite me and said he was the one who sent it.”

The pair reportedly exchanged contacts after chatting, and the man even paid for her cab fare. Although he initially stopped communicating, he later reached out and explained that he had been busy.

Weeks later, they met again at what she described as a classy restaurant.

During the date, the man allegedly claimed he was facing a financial emergency and needed ₦700,000 to complete a transaction.

“He said the money he was expecting was hanging. I sent ₦500,000 to him and told him I would pay for the dinner date,” she recounted.

However, the lady alleged that by the following day, she discovered she had been blocked on all platforms.

The story has since sparked reactions online, with many urging people to be cautious when lending money to individuals they barely know.
