MR Marshal Ilelaboye, the Chairman of Eletu Royal Estate, Community Development Association (CDA), Isheri-Oshun, on Saturday organised a free medical outreach for residents of the community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the outreach focused on Blood Pressure (BP) and sugar level.
The outreach was part of activities marking the inauguration of a N90 million electricity project and the flag-off of a N300 million road project in the estate.
“The initiative is aimed at promoting the health and well-being of residents,” Ilelaboye said.
According to him, many people often neglect their health due to financial and other constraints, thereby making regular medical check-ups difficult.
He said that the CDA had prioritised the health of residents and would continue to provide free medical check-ups during its monthly general meetings.
“We understand the various health challenges faced by residents and have decided to assist them by encouraging regular health screening and medical consultations.
“The health of our residents remains a top priority and we are committed to sustaining this initiative,” he said.
One of the landlords in the community and a member of the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association, Mrs Ifenyinwa Oluyemi, described the outreach as a welcome development.
Oluyemi said that the programme became necessary following the increasing number of deaths recorded within the community in recent times.
She commended the CDA chairman for his commitment to the development of the estate and urged residents to take their health seriously.
“The CDA chairman is a man of his word who consistently fulfils his promises, even when some people doubt his ability to achieve them.
“Beyond prioritising residents’ health, I believe our roads and drainage system will improve significantly with time,” she said.
Another landlord in the community, Mr Daniel Onwuhalu, described the CDA leadership as committed to the welfare of the people.
He urged the chairman to continue his efforts in promoting residents’ well-being and advancing development within the estate.
Some residents who participated in the outreach expressed appreciation to the CDA chairman for the initiative.
Mrs Olubunmi Olatuja, a resident, said that although medical outreach programmes had been organised previously, but noted that the current edition was exceptional.
She described Ilelaboye as a people-oriented leader and urged him to sustain his efforts towards community development.
Another resident, Mrs Adunni Hammed, said that health was wealth and that the CDA chairman deserved commendation for caring about the welfare of residents. (NAN)
