Edo Queens’ NWFL triumph testament to hard work-Shaibu

PHILIP Shaibu, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), has congratulated Edo Queens for emerging champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Shaibu, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ben Ogbemudia, on Sunday in Abuja described the achievement as a deserving reward for the dedication, hard work and determination displayed by the team and management throughout the season.

“Edo Queens had once again demonstrated the growing strength and influence of women’s football in Nigeria, while bringing honour and pride to Edo State and the country.

“The club’s success reflects the positive impact of sustained investment in sports development and talent nurturing.

“The achievement of the team will serve as an inspiration to a new generation of young female athletes to pursue excellence in sports,” he added.

Shaibu  commended the Edo  Government for its commitment to sports development, noting that the state had continued to record impressive achievements across various sporting disciplines.

He expressed confidence that the Benin-based team would make Nigeria proud on the continental stage while urging them to remain focused as they prepare to compete against some of Africa’s top clubs.

The NIS boss wished the team greater success in their continental campaign and reaffirmed the support of sports stakeholders and Nigerians in their quest for more laurels for the country. (NAN)
