A suspected kidnap and murder plot targeting a businessman in Ogun State has been foiled following a tip-off from one of the individuals allegedly recruited to participate in the crime.
The suspect, identified as Owolabi Moses, who reportedly worked as a driver for businessman Chidozie Joseph, was arrested alongside three other men over an alleged conspiracy to abduct and kill his employer in order to take control of his property and business assets.
According to sources familiar with the case, Moses allegedly coordinated with the three accomplices and devised a plan to kidnap Mr. Joseph, a beverage dealer based in Ota, Ogun State.
The suspects were said to have intended to eliminate the businessman and subsequently gain access to his valuables, particularly goods stocked in his business premises.

However, the alleged plot unraveled after one of the men approached for the operation reportedly declined to participate.
The individual, described as a butcher, reportedly informed operatives of the So-Safe Corps in the Ota area about the planned crime.
The informant was said to have told security officials that his conscience would not permit him to be involved in such an act, prompting him to alert authorities before the plan could be executed.
Following the report, security personnel launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
During interrogation, the accused individuals allegedly confessed to the planned abduction and killing of the businessman, according to security sources.
Authorities believe the intervention prevented what could have been a tragic incident that might have been mistaken for a routine criminal attack or kidnapping operation.
Mr. Joseph, the intended victim, is reportedly a well-known trader involved in the sale and distribution of drinks within the area.
The suspects are currently being held at the New Ota Police Station, located opposite the Magistrate Court in Ota, pending further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security agencies have commended the informant for his decision to report the alleged conspiracy, describing his action as a demonstration of civic responsibility that may have saved a life and prevented a major crime.
Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter as investigations continue.
