The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of a new Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, seven Director-Generals, 30 Special Advisers and Assistants, and other officials in a major shake-up aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery in the state.
The appointments, which cut across ministries, departments and agencies, form part of the administration’s efforts to enhance efficiency and consolidate ongoing development programmes.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo.
Among the key appointments is Obi Ayuk, who was named Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, replacing the late Abubakar Ewa, who held the position until his death in January 2025.
Other appointments include Agbor Bassey as Director-General of the Rural Development Agency; Ene Cobham, Director-General of the Agricultural Input Supply Agency; Efa Nyong, Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency; Dr Uffiah Okpan, Director-General of the State Agency for the Control of AIDS; Raymond Nnandi, Director-General of the Industrial Development Agency; Ndifon Etok, Director-General of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency; and Ako Nsa Ekpenyong, Director-General of the Women Development Centre.
The statement also noted the appointment of 38 directors, alongside 30 senior special advisers, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants, as well as 32 board chairmen, secretaries and members.
Governor Otu congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, professionalism and integrity.
“He charged them to demonstrate exemplary professionalism, diligence and a steadfast commitment to the service of Cross River State and its people,” the statement added.
The government said the appointments are expected to strengthen institutional capacity and support the administration’s broader development agenda.
